I'm Baaaack!

Yes I let blogging get away from me. I didn't think it would happen but it did. I got "too busy", lost inspiration, and just plain lazy. I made every excuse not to blog. But why? I enjoy blogging. I enjoy organizing my thoughts and sharing my new adventures and DIY projects. I feel like I have let you down and I sincerely apologize. The only explanation I have is LAZINESS.

It's been a little over 4 months since my last post. Since then I completed college and PASSED my massage boards! Now I'm simply awaiting my lovely state license. This seems to be the l o n g e s t  wait of my life!

My husband and I have also started remodeling (and are currently still at it). I CANNOT WAIT to share before and afters of the place! It's coming along beautifully.

So I'm done making excuses! I'm coming back with pure inspiration and a fresh mind!

Meet Gus Gus

So instead of a typical Wordless Wednesday, I thought I would mix things up by introducing you to one of my fur babies. Everyone who knows me knows I have a big heart for rodents, and I have for quite some time. I've always been a hamster kind of gal but then I watched The Green Mile and HAD to have a rat. Just a couple of weeks after seeing that movie, I found Gus at PetCo for adoption. Needless to say I brought him home.

Look how cute he was when I brought him home. He was so little.

Now, before you start getting all grossed out just because he is a rat let me tell you a bit about him. He loves to snuggle. He is very curious and loves to come out of his cage and check everything out. His favorite snack is corn flakes.

He loves naps and normally sleeps all curled up.

How sweet is this face!!!

There is one thing he HATES....a bath! He tends to tear me to pieces trying to get away from the water. But I love him anyway.

Wordless Wednesday

It's beginning to look like Christmas

So I'm one of the ones that put up Christmas decorations early. Now let me explain because I did not do this last year. I needed the pick me up due to crunch time with this last semester of college. To me the holidays are meant gathering with family and friends and just enjoying that time together. Therefore, I saw no reason to wait on the tree. But I will tell you this I WILL NOT be shopping on Thanksgiving day or Black Friday. I will be spending time stuffing my face and enjoying the time with my family.

Anyway, on with the tutorial!

So as the hubby and I were bringing the tree out I remembered we still do not have a proper tree skirt. Last year we used left over white fabric from our wedding. We threw that away due to finding little mice several months ago.

I went to Jo-Ann's Fabric and looked around. I REFUSE to pay $70 for a store bought skirt. Don't get me wrong I LOVE Jo-Ann's but I'm just a tight wad. I did however buy about a yard and a half of pretty red no-pill fleece. I came home and cut it along the fold then I found a Christmas blanket that we received last year. You can find some at your local Wal-Mart or Dollar store. I just threw them under the tree and arranged them to my liking. I paid around $15 in the end!

Here are the end results:

And, of course, a close up:

It will look even better once I get presents under it!

Happy Crafting!
